whats the difference? from crucial.com 184pinn pc2100 256mb dimm:

1.) DDR PC2100 ? CL=2.5 ? Unbuffered ? Non-parity ? 2.5V ? 32Meg x 64

2.) DDR PC2100 ? CL=2.5 ? Unbuffered ? ECC ? 2.5V ? 32Meg x 72

3.) DDR PC2100 ? CL=2.5 ? Registered ? ECC ? 2.5V ? 32Meg x 72

unbufered, registered?

non-parity, ecc?

32x64,32x72?

can someone explain please

This link should explain everything. It's from the Anandtech FAQ.

Also, for the 32x64, 32x72 the second number tells whether or not they're ECC or not. For example. ??x64 is regular memory and ??x72 is ECC memory. I believe the first number is the density of the memory modules.

<< ok basically unbuffered, non parity for home users

registered and ecc for servers

Basically, unless you as a home user requires more than 512MB of memory in which case most motherboards require the use of registered memory.
