my g/f has P III 800mhz, 256MB Sdram and windows me and she uses only for word processing and web browsing it's mad slow for some reason, if I format the hard drive and install windows xp will there be a visible difference



and also if you can provide steps how to format and install windows xp


I am PC dummy

If you don't want to format and do a clean install. there is a MS Upgrade version of XP.

Well, if I remember correctly, you would just start up your computer with the XP CD in the CDrom drive. Then, follow the steps. During the installation, you should be able to delete the current partition on the hard drive. Delete it and create a new NTFS one. Windows setup will then format the drive for you. Everything previously on the hard drive will be lost though, so make sure you have backed up the important stuff.
