If you change your computer name, will that change happen on your computer list in a Boinc project?

I don't know about computer name, but there are a lot of things that will produce a new computer on the Boinc lists, such as changing your disk cache size :Q. If that happens, you can merge the two listed computers.

Now a question for someone else: I've merged a couple of times, but I can never seem to get straight which displayed computer remains on the list. Anyone know which computer to merge to keep a specific computer?

A warning though... the merge computer through BOINC is not perfect. I have a few computers that I cannot merge even though they have the same name, and are the same computer. Other times it wants to merge computers that are not even the same. All that will happen is your computer count will become inflated. Then it looks like you bring more to the table than reality. :)

You can also just delete the host computer name from the BOINC project; your completed credit will stay with your account just fine.

I cleaned up my own Boinc E@H account this way so that my number of hosts would accurately reflect the number of computers that I have that are active on that project. :)

I've been able to change my computers name by exiting boinc, changing name and restarting the computer afterward. By doing this my new computer name replaced the old one.
