I'm about to put a cpu from a supposedly bad board into a new board. I noticed a slight/medium burn/discoloration mark under the cpu, in the square between the pins. Is this normal for a three year old cpu?
 
Nah, never got this old ME machine to work w/digital cameras.
What I'm talking about is a heat spot, on the chip, opposite the cpu.
You gave me an idea, though. I'll see if I can google up some pics of burned, etc. cpus.
Any link ideas?
