For the screen, while it's off, I use a dry towel with just a little bit of windex.
for the rest, rubbing alcohal works wonders

Don't use windex since it has amonia that will remove your anti-glare coating.

I use water with dry paper tower to clean my monitor.

You keep if off just in case your "damp towel" was actually more like Niagra Falls.

But yes, keep that Windex away from the screen. You will not be pleased that you could trace the path of destruction where it was wiped when the coating gets thin.

I don't think Windex would hurt a perfect flat CRT monitor, They don't have any glare as it is.

As for my monitor... I use this 3M stuff, it's for Autocar glass, I spray it on there and clean it off with some downy paper towels.... Works well and I have not noticed any scratches in it at all. Ive done this for over a year. I have the ViewSonic PF790, so that might have something to do with it, being flat and all.
