Im trying to determine what part of my computer is causing the overheating...

Using motherboard monitor The first reading I get is for ADM1025 and is always cool, the second reading I get for ADM1025 is higher. Is the first one the mobo temp and the second the processor or the other way around? Or am I completely missing something :(

Again, sorry for the many posts, Im just really frustrated.

The motherboard temp is likely the cooler temp. Some monitors also report both internal diode temps that could be in accurate and a general socket temperature of where the cpu sits. SO you could have two temps for the CPU with one for the motherboard.

Don't be afraid to ask as many questions as you want since there many members here more than willing to answer ya.

Screenshot of Temperatures....

My temperature has now risen to 79 C. It just keeps going up, Ive tried blowing the dust out of the fans on my CPU fan. Ive tried making sure everything is secure down properly. There don't seem to be any problems, I can't for the life of me figure out what to do.

I believe 37c is the socket temp of your CPU judging on that pic. The one thats over 70c is the diode and I believe that reading is false.

There must be a way to find out on that program what ADM1025 1 reads and what ADM1025 2 reads. Check if there is a help or options screen to find that out.

What makes you say its false? My computer has been locking up earlier today, and last night, and the last few days. So I installed this to see if this might be why.

What exactly is the Diode? Basically Im really concerned lol. Tell me something to make me feel better :)

Locking up? Do you mean it restarts or it freezes?

Freezes, and then it won't restart unless I let it sit for a few moments, or try to restart it a few times. Well It'll restart, but I don't get video.

If it freezes, do what MechBeagon recommended. Take out the heat sink. Clean it off with nail polish remover or alcohol. Do the same with the cpu but only use a little polish remover or alcohol to get off the old thermal compound using a q-tip.

Reapply thermal compound. A very thin layer on top of the heat sink. And re attach the heat sink.

I just checked my monitor, now it says that my temperature is up to 90 C. That can't be good. Should I not be using this computer?

If its at 90C you would be advised to shutdown because if I'm not mistaken thats the thermal limit on most processors and you dont' want to kill it.

Won't it just shut itself down like it had before?

I put my box fan right next to it again and it brought the temp down to 68 at one point, its now at 78.

Im going to try and get some thermal paste stuff and re-sit the hotsink and stuff tomorrow, hopefully that helps. I just don't understand how all of a sudden it would stop cooling properly :(
