What do you all use to resize pictures?
I shot all my Xmass photos in 1600 x 1200, but i want to email a few in something more manageble like 640 x 480

Personally, I take hours and hours to resize them all by hand. Usually because I don't necessarily want them all the same size and I use Jasc Paint Shop Pro.

Either Microsoft PictureIt or Photo Deluxe by Adobe. PSP is good, I need to get a a newer version of it though.

I got it, the gimp.
I decompressed it.
But, I can't figure out how to install it.

Whoa!
I downloaded GIMP and got it to run.
It may be way way way more than I need.
I don't even know if it will do what I need.
I have digital pictures I took with my Nikon COOLPIX in 1600 x 1200.
I have to e-mail them to a friend of mine.
I don't want to CROP the pictures.
I want them exactly the same, but with lower resolution, 640 x 480.

Glen,

One of my all-time favorite batch resizers is PictureTray.....it's free :), and simple as hell.
You can download it here.

Be sure to experiment a little with the compression algorithms for best quality.

Good luck,

Uh, just use any simple image editor (MS Paint will do) and resize the image to 640 x 480.

The Gimp is practically a Photoshop replacement so it can do a lot, but you want Right Click on the picture->Image->Scale Image

For what you want to do The Gimp should be fine. But saying The Gimp is "practically a Photoshop replacement" is like saying a swiss army knife is practically a replacement for the entire Sears' hardware department.

BFG10K has it right, MSpaint will resize *.bmp, *.gif and *.jpg files, free and easy.

I can't believe no one's mentioned Irfanview. It seems to be lots of peoples image viewer/manipulator of choice. Free, small download.
