Quick question regarding super glue...

I was going to use some super glue to insulate a small scratch in one of the traces on a motherboard I just got a hold of. The scratch is very light, and it just scratched off the green coating on the trace, it didn't cut into the actual trace at all. Does super glue insulate ok, or will it not do the job? Silicone maybe?

CA adhesives have high breakdown voltages. I've used them to adjust the voltage in the old fashion slot one cpu that was in a board without user adjustable voltage. You'll be fine.

Cheers!

Well if everything is working ok, I wouldn't worry about it. But, if you must, a thin coat of superglue would probably work. I dunno if it will have a neg. reaction with the board or not.

There is no reason to insulate it unless you think something conductive might touch it while your computer is running. SUper glue is pretty wicked stuff. I would not put it on the mobo. If I put anything on there it would be 100% silicon, but I would just leave it.

I agree with Darrin, All circuit boards except for Mil-Spec were uncoated for years. In fact the coating used to be called a tropical coating. If the board works don't be stomping on piss ants while elephants are running up and down the halls.
