Quick question (people with winxp oem cds please read!)

yea i know it's slightly off topic even for "off topic" but I know I can depend on you guys for a quick answer 😀

True or False:

winxp oem cds can only do a clean install and not an upgrade installation.

I know this is the case for dell's winxp but I need to know whether compaq, ibm, and gateway do this also.

False, OEM XP cds can do an upgrade too.

OEM Windows CD's have been "upgrade locked" for ages.🙁 XP is just a continuation of that unfortunately.

thats not true mu OEM win 2k Pro SP2 Cd can do upgrades so can my OEM 98SE disk

It depends on the OEM.

The OEM is free to modify files on the media.
