Probably a simple question for someone who knows. I have looked through all the help screens in win xp (prof.) and in an XP book, but can't find this answer. Here is the problem.
I have a small office with about 6 computers. People need to have access to files on other computers, so I basically have the drives of all computers being shared and the option for "allow others on the network to change files" checked on everyone's computers. There is no software firewall--we do connect to the internet through a router though. In any case, everything is working well EXCEPT that I have a folder on my computer called "Employee Evaluations"--that I would like to keep others from being able to access over the network (all except for the office manager). I don't want to play games with trying to change the title or hiding hiding the folder, and I don't care if they can "see" the folder as long as they don't access it. I want a simple way to prevent other network users (except for the office manager) from having access to it. Can I do this by changing some settings on my Win XP computer.
I tried making the office manager a user in my computer and turning off sharing on my hard drive, but then I can't connect to my computer (going through network places) from hers. Is there a simple way of doing what I want...I would be willing to pay for a simple shareware program that would allow this, but the only ones I have found are made so that you can lock folders in your computer and then unlock them from that computer itself--not from a network. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
BJ
