Quick question, IDE + Sata at same time.

My rig currently has dvd-rom dvd-burner and two ide harddrives running on it. Will I have any problems hooking up a SATA drive in conjunction with the rest of that stuff? The mobo has the controllers for it.

No clue, never tried it.

O right ok. Well i've used both IDE channels with slaved drives and had one SATA drive running no problem.

So if I do it I'll need to slave both of my HD's and make my sata a master, correct? Am I going to have any problems running my OS off my IDE drive and using the sata as just storage?

It's the same exact thing as if you had another IDE drive, there should be no change. Just make sure to setup your BIOS correctly, as some motherboards like making SATA the primary drive.

Otherwise, exactly the same. Different connection, still just a hard drive.

I have my IDE PATA drive as primary, and I use a SATA drive as a data drive. No problems with both.

thats exactly what im running on. 120GB and 160GB both on ide. dvd-rw and cd-tw on the 2nd ide. 300GB on the sata. works flawlessly.
