Quick question, i believe it is the fault of the power supply just need to make sure!!

Computer ran P95 fine for 20 hours. however, now that the owner has it, whenever he goes to play nascar 4 it freezes. I also ran memtest w/ no errors.

Chaintech 7nifj (or whatever their mini-atx nforce2 board w/ igp is!)
cheap 20$ case + 300 watt PS
1700+
256mb pc2100 crucial
cd-rom drive
80gb HD

the problem you would assume would be the power supply correct?

this is the only game he has loaded currently as simcity refused to load on to it (cant find cd rom error).

I was thinking it was either powersupply, or the 2.42 dets. Tomorrow i was gunna go over there and unistall them, and install the ones that came on the cd.

If it is running fine otherwise, I would suspect drivers or the game itself. I would along with the detenator drivers, update your via 4n1 drivers along with any sound drivers, etc. If that fails, try another game and hit the nascar 4 tech support/formums for any patches/tips. Take care.

k, i will try the drivers first, let him try the game, then some other games i wil let him use. if it crashes only in that game i will see what is wrong with the game. otherwise if it crashes other times, he will buy a new PS, and i will install it for him (the rails were fine when i checked them, but yeah who knows) He says it crashes as soon as the CPU goes up to 100% when loading the game (yes, p95 gets it up there but who knows, may draw more power cuz it needs video from the mobo too?)
