For anyone who's used something like this:
Assume that jack is lifting about 60,000lbs. Approximately how many pounds per pump would a person need to exert on the lever arm?
Depends on too many variables to give a simple answer.
Length of the lever (handle) ratio of the length/pump piston, etc.
As a rule, it doesn't really take too much strength to use one of these to lift the rated capacity however.
Well, as in less than 50lbs or less than 25lbs? Or is that still too wide a range?
This is for a design project that will incorporate a bottle jack, and I just need to know at least [/i]some[/i] idea of the force the operator will need to create.
