No worries; the chances of pregnancy are right next to zero. I've used the rythym method (what this is known as) for 25 years without any mishaps but if this is going to concern you then you two should seriously look into another form of birth control. The rythym method is not really recommended birth control anyway, too many chances of things getting out of sync. It's really for couples who don't necessarily want a child at this exact moment but wouldn't really get bent out of shape if one arrived.

This is pseudo-OT, but do yourself and your fiancee a favor and brush up on your female physiology. It'll come in handy down the road with regard to things like physical intimacy, procreation, childbirth, etc. Knowing and understanding this kind of stuff will make you a better and more compassionate husband IMHO. 🙂

You know, many catholic's are cool with the pill...it's not 100.0000000% effective...it's birth control, not 'birth ain't fvckin happening here'(pardon my french, it was added for humor's sake).

I've even heard or read catholic commentary saying vasectomy (sp?) surgeries are acceptable provided that you already had kids...i.e. your 40 and you have two or three kids, you've made your family and now it time for uninhibited hanky panky between you and your wife. I think it centers around the ideal that you get married to, among other things, raise a family...but once who have 'your family'...the birth control thind is kinda moot.

My wife and I are greek orthodox, the paragraph above pretty much states a predominant orthodox opinion. There are orthodox who do not use birth control due to personal belief, similiar to most catholics, but that is their personal practice...both are completely acceptable within the context of orthodox/christian life.

From my perspective, I don't think I could be a good father to much more than 3 kids.

I'm 26 and my wife is 23, BTW...we've been married for 3.5 years.

I agree. The whole soldiers breaking into the garage and knocking the door off its tracks analogy isn't really gonna turn her knees into jelly...

I was also thinking about him being really cogniscent of what's going on with her body during pregnancy and childbirth. It's a damn difficult 9 months for most women and the husband can offer better emotional support (again, IMHO) if he really understands what's going on.

And yeah, knowing where and what the clitoris is doesn't hurt either. 😛

Ah, yes... childbirth. Haven't experienced that little joy yet. There's a guy I work with, though, whose wife is right at nine months. He looks like death every morning when he stumbles into work.

You're in trouble! Get the clothes hanger ready!

j/k...you probably have nothing to worry about...but anything's possible.

When my wife and I were dating, we did have sex, but I was still really nervous whenever her period would be late...but in college, worrying about exams could delay her period 2 weeks. :|

Nothing makes a man more paranoid and irrational than the thought of a baby.

You should haven't too much to worried about if nothing got directly on the garage door.

That's more of a get some sleep or put down the crack pipe sentance 🙂.

Can't be too hardcore if she's having premarital sex. .... she probably just thinks that the pill will make her gain weight.

My wife stopped using the pill a few years ago, after several years of use. And we kinda use the rhthym method now. But we are both 27 and have been together for several years, so we are in the situation like jjones mentioned.

These situations are very circumstantial. It's almost always technically possible, but the odds are usually in your favor.
