quick question for seagate barracuda iv owners

i bought this harddrive recently 60gb and although its extremly quiet every once in a while it seems to make a rattling noise, is this normal
i do have a hardrive cooler attached

I've never had a rattling noise from my Barracuda (neither III nor IV for that matter)...
Sure it's the HD?

If you're talking about a distant whining type noise, then that's something that some barracuda iv owners have. Some notice it, some don't. There were a number of Seagate drives out there that had some algorithm enabled by default which caused the drive to periodically do something that made this noise. I had the same issue and after running a seagate file called smsscan.exe or something like that from DOS, the noise was gone.
