Quick question for Adobe Lightroom. (Currently using Aperture.)

We have an old Core Duo Mac at our workplace running Aperture.

We want to get a Windows PC with Lightroom to replace it. Apple has killed off Aperture, and our Mac is too old for OS X 10.7, which is a requirement for both our IT dept. and for Lightroom. We won't get another Mac, because our current local internal IT person doesn't actually support Macs (although the overall IT dept. does).

We take photos of objects, and then name each group of photos of that object as that object: eg. ObjectABC-1, ObjectABC-2, ObjectABC-3. And then when necessary, export the photos using the names of the objects. I assume this uber easy on Lightroom, right? I've only ever played with Lightroom 1 really briefly when it first came out, but haven't tried it since.

Also, if I do a search for "ObjectABC", all those files will show up near instantly right? Hard drive is fine for thousands of pics, correct? We don't want to bother with SSD.

Also, has anyone seen what versions of Aperture that Adobe's future migration tool will support? We're still running Aperture 1.5. The computer is too old to run Aperture 3.5.
