Quick question does it matter which way I plug my cables in?

Just had a thought and I don't think I've ever researched this but does it matter which way the ATX/PCI/EPS leads go into the motherboard? I'm 99% sure it doesn't but maybe the alcohol has screwed with me too much :D

It should not be physically possible to connect them in the wrong orientation. So the question isn't "does it matter", it's "is it possible".

On my boards, that's an 8-pin plug wire, and there's only one 8-pin plug for it on a motherboard.

Or maybe I misread what you mean by "ATX/PCI/EPS." That power-plug wire is usually designated as "ATX/EATX." At least, as I recall . . .

I was just interested as I've always put my connectors on with how they have the clip to hold them onto, when I took my PC apart for dusting I had a proper look at all the cables, I hadn't really thought about it in my time building.
