Quick question about Xbox modding

Is it true that modchips will only work on v1.3 and older and not v1.4 and v1.5 and if so, how do you go about getting the older sets?

I checked that site and that is where I got the assumption, but I wanted to make sure the info isn't dated.

Hey, Mods aren't supposed to post mod related messages under their usernames.
I'd think you'd realize any form of piracy is not tolerated on here by now

I'm not a mod. Just pointing it out to you so you can "remove" it before the mods get here 🙂

True, but the question he asked isn't overtly about piracy. He could just be wanting to run Linux. Likely? No... but you get the point.

Exactly! Some people on here think they're God and presume they know my intents without me mentioning them. Instead of a simple yes or no though, we get to balloon this thread out.

I really don't think anyone on these boards is gonna be running linux but they might. I'm not God. The mods shoot first and then ask questions later if you know what I mean and I don't blame them at all.

I have my xbox modded so I can play my music collection over the network. Has nothing to do with pirating movies. It also allows me to use my xbox as a dvd player without the stupid dvd kit.

If you have a v1.4 or v1.5 then just flash the TSOP. That is unless you want to be able to play on XBL.

Mainly piracy. But it basically lets you use your xbox as a PC.
I was intersted to see that someone's using theirs as a firewall.
The xbox-linux program is crazy, people are soldering 128mb ram
modules to the motherboard to get more juice out of the system.

Pretty much once you have a modchip installed you can back up your
games, play various media off the hdd, making the xbox all out media
center really. It skirts on the border of legality, however if you have legit
copies of everything all you need to do is get a large hdd, mod your xbox
and dump everything on to it. That way you have your media jukebox that
you can setup on a network or tote around with you on holliday or whatever.
Not to mention not ever having to take games out of their cases again.
Oh and don't forget the emulators. Hehe, the PS2 is backwards
compatible with the PS1, while the xbox is backwards compatable with every
system made thus far (at least those that have been emulated).

Its convenient, super fun, interesting to work on, and unearths the incredible
versitility of the console disguised PC that is the xbox.

~bulls/fixmyaccount/dM/superSwankyUltraCheeseMan whatever, i dont remember what i even go by anymore.

You can legally Mod your Xbox. And Yes they work on every type now. Im not so sure about if the Cromwell bios works upto 1.5 but im pretty sure it does.
