Basically the problem with my hard drive is that like every so often when i start my computer, my western digital 200gig (its a storage HD), will display a different serial number in teh BIOS and when this happens, when i start windows, and i try to open that hard drive, it will say disk is not formatted. However, i can usually fix this problem by either just turning the computer off and on, and/or jiggling around the IDE cables. Does anyone have any information about what this mite be and is it worth the RMA. (this harddrive is already an RMA harddrive from a previous RMA i did about 3 weeks ago).

Thanks any light on this situation would greatly be appreciated.

You could post in comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware.storage

If it's the drive's fault, definitely RMA.

The computer might have trouble recognizing the size of the drive...try running it through a PCI ATA card.
