It's been a long time since I've done an install of W2k (I did it on my friend's machine awhile back) and I can't remember something. I just use a WinME bootdisk to get to format, partition, etc. then I open the CD and type "winnt" to start the install right? Or do I have to go into the CD then i386 and then open winnt to start installation?

Thanks!

if memory serves me, once the disk is formatted you go into the i386 directory and type in winnt /b (the /b is so that it doesn't need the boot disks to install).I'm not sure if you can just run winnt from the root directory

boot off the cd. it will give you the options of partitioning and formatting right during the install.

Yeh, run winnt.exe under the i386 folder. You also want to install smrtdrv.exe or something of that nature. Run it twice and your install for Win2k will be much quicker.

I dont even install 4 in 1 drivers. I've never needed them.

I usually install the video drivers first, then sound, then what ever is left.

Smartdrive is Windows disk cache program. Boot off the CD and you'll be fine.
