If i plugged a 12volt to 9volt adapter into my DFI Lanparty UT 250GB mobo fan header, then plugged a 3 pin "Y" adapter into that, then plugged a 80mm low speed panaflo and a 120mm vantec stealth into the "Y" adapter:

1) What would be the voltage output to each fan?

2) Is that safe for the mobo?

Quick answeres appreciated, making an order very soon!!

9V.

Don't think it would hurt it too much, you may well be drawing more current than they are designed to supply, but it's probably not fatal.

thanks.

Is it possible it will shorten the lifespan of the board or anything? Should I just get a fan controller or something else?

What is the current draw of the 120mm and 80mm fans @ 12v?

Then look in the manual for any ratings for the connectors. I'd say it would work alright with the 12v-9v thingy, especially with low speed fans (PS vantec are shite).

I dont know what the current draw is, or even what that means exactly, sorry. The manual has nothing about it, nor could I find it on the website.
Yea, the vantec is not as quiet as I originally expected it to be, however, it has been going strong for around 2 years practiaclly 24/7.

Is draw the amps being used? My panaflo for instance, the 80mm that would be used, says 0.1A , and the 120mm vantec uses 0.08A at .96 watts.

I think i will be fine, those look like very low power requirements...
