quick question about temp. probe from case lcd placement under cpu

i am building a system for a buddy and he picked the thermaltake vm2000 lanfire case and it has a lcd with temp and fan controls. in the instructions it says you can tape the temp probe to the bottom of the cpu (they provide the "special" tape) and route the wires inbetween the pins. now is this safe or a good idea? would u reccomend i just tape it to heatsink or what? for some reason i think its not good to tape it to bottom of the cpu. its a winchester 3500+ by the way. thanks guys

Mike
