quick question about SAGETV PVR?

I just bought a win-pvr250 and am about to begin recording. I'm using SageTV with it, and am wondering, does sage tv need to be open to record, or will it record/open itself at the right time?

I also am assuming my computer needs to be on 😉 but an answer to the sageTV question would be helpful, thanks!
