Quick question about quad core overclocking

On quad core, I am trying to get my FSB to 333. As I understand it..

Stock for a Q6600 is:
266.7 x 9 = 2400mhz

Now I have been told to get my FSB to 333 to hit 3.0 gig I need to set it to 1333

but stock my FSB is set to 1066, not 1266.

How does that work? Am I missing something? What do I set my FSB to, to get my CPU to 3.0?

It's unnecessary to start a new thread for each of your questions.

Have you read graysky's guide and your motherboard manual like I recommended?

I have read them, the best I can get is 2.69 setting my FSB to 1195 and RAM to 533. If I hit 1200 it will exemption error after post. If I set the RAM to 5-5-5-15 it gives a exemption error after post with any change of the FSB. I really want to get this up to 3.0 and can't figure out why I can't get my FSB past 1195. I totally read the overclocking guide and tried slightly stepping my CPU voltage but any change I make other than leaving it at AUTO gives me a exemption error. Frustrating!

266.67* 4 (QDR FSB) = 1066 (Stock FSB)
333.33 * 4 (QDR FSB) = 1333 (3.0GHz OC)

You're going to have to play with voltages and multipliers. Please post your hardware so we know what you are using. Motherboard, RAM, etc.

I have my Q6600 installed on an MSI P35 Neo 2 FR - a budget mobo. Getting to 3.0 ghz is just a matter of setting jumpers to 333 positions. 333 x 9 = 3000mhz. I think other mobos should give you that feature.
Good luck!

50 degrees idle, or under load?

What are you using to test stability?

under load, using Prime95 and CoreTemp, max I have seen is 52 degrees, running a Antec Sonata III with just the rear 120mm fan at max with a Cooler Master HyperTX on the CPU, GPU is a eVga 8800GTS at stock levels.
