kantonburg - If there's one golden rule to price matching, here it is. When you call to pricematch if you are not satisfied with the results hang up then try calling again to get another CSR who may be of more help. Unfortunately yes it is their policy to charge the competitor's next day shipping charges which is stupid but that's their policy.
You can also request a
price match online but they enter these manually and calling them on the phone means you get your price match approved or declined immediately.
When calling to request a price match make sure to have the following pieces of information ready, this will make their job easier and maybe the CSR will be more pleasant?
1) Your Staples.com order number and customer number (if you have it).
2) The competitor's .com web site name, their price, their SKU/ITEM #, their overnight shipping charges.
Some Staples CSRs are friendly or not that smart and will price match without adding on the next day shipping charges. Also the competitor's manufacturer's model number must exactly match with Staples, otherwise they will not consider them the same product. And the competitor has to have the item in stock.
If you're using a Staples.com coupon make sure that it still meets the minimum requirements AFTER the price match has been deducted.
Hope this helps, if you still have any questions feel free to e-mail me at
rossman@europa.com since this isn't the appropriate forum to ask this question but it's still useful information I'm sure these lurkers will be glad to know.
