quick question about ohm load

it's been sooo long since i've been in the car audio thing... i'm wanting just a small 10" L7 solo-baric to throw in my yukon.

i'm looking between a 300-600 watt amp(mono). i could just google ohm loads but i don't have time as of now. can a DVC 4-ohm be wired for a 2 ohm load? i'm wanting a 2-ohm load and couldn't remember if a DVC 2-ohm or DVC 4-ohm could be wired for a 2-ohm load..

little help?

Yes. Connect them parallel.

Dual voice coils of 4 ohms each can present a load of 2 ohms (parallel) or 8 ohms (serial). Wiring in serial is definitely NOT recommended.

NOTE: A stereo amp bridged mono will need to be capable of driving a 1 ohm load (each channel) if running in bridged mode driving a 2 ohm load!

I think you mean 8 ohms(series). and Wiring in series is ...."



Of course terminology could have changed in the last 20 years....



...and yes, wiring them in parallel will give you the 2 ohm load you want. However, I think that the 2 ohms is the total parallel circuit impedence and not 2 ohms impedence for each voice coil.

No it was a legitimate mistake. Too much serial in the computers as of late.

Or it could've been that exposure to a 1.5 Tesla magnetic field earlier. People never believe that when a woman walks funny. :Q
