Quick Question about Number Portability

I'm having my T-mobile Numbers ported over to Cingular.

Does Cingular when they port cancel T-mobile service on my behalf ?

Or do I cancel with T-mobile and then have Cingular port the number over ?

Initiate the port request with the destination provider.

Your account with T-Mobile will be closed when the port process completes.

I just ported over to Cingular from VZW...my # was ported over before I left the store. <45 minutes...and that was for 2 lines.

2 days later I received a letter from VZW telling me my account was closed.

The first one.

Do NOT cancel your T-Mobile account first, or you will lose your phone number(s). Do, however, call T-Mobile first and make certain that they don't think you're under contract.

My contract ended with T-mobile on the 22nd of Febuary.
I triple checked 🙂
Port Request went in today. 3 numbers for T-mobile and 1 number for Verizon.
