quick question about mp3 players

Hey when you add memory to a solid state mp3 player is the transfer between the built in RAM and the added from (ie sandisk etc.) seamless or do you have to go threw some menus or what not to access the added memory? Also if you are playing songs and you are on the last song of the built in memory will it just flow right into the upgraded memory? And on the same note, when you upload music if you have 128 built in and a 128 card added can you just seamlessly upload 256mb or do you have to upload in 2 128mb chuncks?
