Quick Question about ml and grams

how is ml calculated in grams?


i thought it was 1ml = 1g...but according to this question it needs to be calculated?.... hmph help!

well.. your saying it cant be ...?

but it has to be able to be calculated

You have to know the density of the substance to calculate that. 10ml of gold does not weigh the same as 10ml of feathers.

or, to put it another way...
ml is a measure of volume. grams are a measure of mass. density is a measure of mass/volume.

makes sense?

Unless the substance was water (in liquid form), then 1 ml = 1 gram. Otherwise, the weight would be density times volume.

oh, maybe this, milli=1/1000 if u are only used to those weirdassnologicalsystem units

Yep, and 1ml of water weighs 1 gram.


1ml of water masses 1 gram. Weight is measured in newtons and pounds; mass is measured in grams and slugs.

Like others have said it's the mass = volume of pure water at sea level.

Most of our base measurements are taken from water.

0C is water freezing at sea level
100C is water boiling at sea level
