quick question about marriage funding...

did some googling, but could not find the answer. If I want to bring a girl over on fiance visa, I need to show "evidence of support"....

so exaclty how much money do I need in my bank statement? do I also need to show I have a steady job?

I know there are a few of you guys who married foreigners....so how did that work out?

um, my parents told me if I ever get married, the bride's family will pay for the whole thing and they shoudln't be expected to chip in a cent. However, I would consider it grossly inappropriate for the bride's family to be inquiring into the specifics of your personal finances if that's what you're asking.... you can have a very simple, conservative wedding for under a grand if you really wanted to....

Couple people I know married someone outside the country, and the BIG BIG factor is homesickness, missing family etc. Expect a LOT of phone calls, trips home, and/or bringing the whole family over here. The worst is maybe after a year and a kid they just visit back home and won't come back.

Spend some time up front.

i think he's asking because he wants to bring in a resident of another country to marry and there are probably a ton of forms that ask for a lot of random things.

some cultures the groom's family pays.

no no, i'm not talking like that...I"m talking about filling out forms w/ the INS.....if you want to bring someone from another country over, you need to show "evidence of financial support," so you can support her, or else, you can't bring her here.

I just want to know if anyone knows the estimate and how that works
