Say we have a local calling land-line plan for home. Area code 444 for example. If I have a cell phone with area code 444 and I go out of state and I am called from our home land-line, does that count as long distance? I am out of state, but have the same area code.

Thanks!

If I have a Madison wi, number on my cell I could be in alaska and it would still count as a local call for someone to call my cell from Madison.

You as the dialer have no idea where the cell phone user is. They could be right next door, or on the other side of the world. Thus, it would be unfair to make you pay long distance because your recipient isn't near home.

Instead the cell phone user pays the long distance charges. Either by paying roaming or by having a more expensive cell phone plan. Thus, you won't be charged on your home phone*, but you may be charged on your cell phone.

* I assume your cell phone is actually local. You can be in your own area code and be long distance.
