I went to do my taxes last week when I seen my W2 was online. I use TurboTax online since it's quick and easy and I qualify for free federal and state filing.
Anyway, I enter my W2 and then it asked if I wanted to enter any 1099 forms. I have not received either yet and I'd like to get this thing filed to get my refund. My statements are online and the last ones lists end-of-year dividends earned. I keep little money in savings, one credit union I don't use much so it has little money in it, and the interest rate is like 1% anyway. So what that means is I've earned like $0.62 from one credit union and $0.37 from the other.
Do I even need to enter them if it is such a tiny amount that no taxes were withheld? On my 1040EZ and state forms for the past four years, all of the 1099 boxes are empty, so I even though I entered them in to TurboTax, it doesn't affect the return.
I know this is probably a lot over $1 in interest, and I don't think it even matters for my return, but I don't want to do something wrong. I have the correct amounts, but not the "official" name (how it appears on the 1099, since they are long names they are abbreviated).
