Quick question about Dual Channel RAM

Hey there guys,
So here is the question. If I have 2 sticks of 512MB DDR400 RAM running in dual channel now, and have a spare stick of 256MB DDR400 lying around, should I forgo the Dual channel and take the 1.3 GB of ram or use the Dual Channel and take 1 GB of RAM?

I'd stick with the two 512MB sticks in dual channel if it's only a 256MB stick you'd be adding to the mix.

Now, if you were adding another 512MB stick or a 1GB stick then I'd say don't worry as much about the dual channel and add the extra RAM.
