Quick question about displaying on external monitor with Radeon All in Wonder

Hey guys,
I've got a Radeon 8500 DV (All in Wonder I believe it's called). It has had this problem ever since I got it but I never really needed to use the external monitor function on the card before, (mostly got it to watch TV on my PC, but I have a big TV in my room now so I don't even use it for that).

Anyhow, here's my question.

I've used multiple monitors before as well as other cards with TV out, I know how it works and it does display my desktop on my TV (I'm using video out into video in on TV with RCA cable). Here's the thing...Everything works fine and dandy except whenever I open up a video file the video portion of the player is black...nothing. When I have it in clone monitor mode I can see the video playing on my CRT but it's just a black box on my TV. I have updated video card drivers, tried 5 different media player apps and have gotten all new video codecs...nothing has changed it.

Does anybody know anything about this problem and have a fix? I'm nocturnal and I need to watch movies late at night cuz late night television is unbearable, I have suffered for too long 😉

thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out. Really appreciate it.

You need to either:

*Make your TV the "Primary" display
*Use "Theater Mode" when in Clone Mode to display on the "Secondary" display
*Use VMR without overlay to render the video. (not all VMR9 features are supported on DX8 hardware however)
