Quick Question About ASUS Z87-Pro

Hello, computer newb here,

I read in this article (5th paragraph) that the last PCI-ex slot of the motherboard only has 1x bandwidth.

Does this mean that if I use the first or second PCE-ex slot I will have full 8x bandwidth?

I am looking to build a new computer and was interested in this motherboard due to it's price and features. I do a lot of design and video work, and while I don't typically ever use more than one graphics card, I just want to make sure that I've read the article correctly and I'll get full speed on the PCI slot I do actually use.

Thanks in advance!

If you are using just one video card, in the yellow x16 pcie slot you will get the full x16 bandwidth

If you use the x16 yellow and the first x16 black, they will both run at x8

the last x16 black is by default configured as an x1 due to it coming off the chipset vs the cpu like the the first 2. In the bios you can change it to X4 but it will disable the ASmedia SATA controller so you loose 2 sata ports because of the limited PCIe lanes off the chipset.

hope that helps
