Quick question about Abit BG-7

How do I disable onboard video and use my radeon 8500? I plugged in the 8500, in bios I set it to agp from pci. I don't see any other options and I already checked the manual, help! 😀

It didn't recognize it at all. even after I reseated it. then I took it out and put in a gf4 and it wouldn't even boot! afterwards, when I tried booting it some part of the mobo near the ddr slots started glowing red and smoke came out. :-\ this is the second bg7 that got ruined! I don't think its user error either. 😛 my p4b266 runs fine.

I don't know what to do. 🙁

If you had smoke come out of the board it probably shorted. Could've been a defective board or improper installation.

Yeah, I was running it for about 7-8 hours previous to me re-seating and switching video cards. The onboard video was just taking up a lot of system resources so I wanted to test how good the performance would be with the radeon in. Everything worked fine except that it didn't recognize anything in my agp slot. So I don't know what caused the short circuit.

I moved all my peripherals back to the p4b266 so at least everything else is fine. 😱
