quick PSU question regarding POS PSUs

Quick question (hopefully), while I'm in a PSU thread. The whole bit about POS PSUs (I mean the real POS ones, DEER, etc). Would these be good for powering just fans, etc. The only problem I really foresee is that they are in a (VERY) hot environment (my garage here in Texas), thus increasing the stress on the PSU.

I have a variety of PSUs now, ranging from 120 - 350 watt, and several different brands. These are powering P3s, a dual P3, and fan / light configurations.

Is there any risk involved in using these PSUs for this job? I'm mainly concerned about fire hazards, but having the machines go down would be rather inconvenient as well...

No problem what so ever. But why bother. Fans draw so low a wattage, just tap into your other PSUs. You know where to go, post pics and recap with decent caps, like TEAPO for PSU use, not board VRM use.

Some guys over there recap POS PSUs for light duty machines and get very stable, long service out of L&C or DEER. I am not kidding even a tiny bit 😉
You could buy a 12V only low wattage PSU from allelectronics or BGMicro. *shrugs*

If you don't need two of them, send them my way for a Delta EFB 120x38, 147cfm fan 😛
I'll take any two working POS PSUs for it....PM me if interested.
