Not from California. I'm from Long Island and go to school in Illinois.

As for political leanings - I guess I lean a little to the left, but it really depends on the issue. I am a registered Democrat in NY though, just so I can vote in primary elections.

Born and raised in California, you could say I lean right but the typical definition of that is terrible. I stand against centralized planning and abuse of government.

Don't over analyze, even a centrist leans slightly one way more than the other. That's why I stated leans rather than asking liberal or conservative or Democrat or Republican. My fiscal conservative side is stronger than my social liberal side, so I voted right leaning from another state.

Well I hate Republicans, I wanna slap that smirk off of Palin's face with my dick and take a hairy dump in Limbaugh's bottle of unprescribed Oxcycontin so I guess that makes me left leaning or more likely just right.

Left leaning and live in Florida.

Word.

Socially liberal and I consider myself fiscally conservative, though I would probably fail most of the policy litmus tests put forth by a lot of conservatives on this forum I'm sure.

To put it another way, I'm all for helping people who deserve it, but I bristle at lazy people abusing the system, just like everyone else.

Yep, that pretty much sums me up as well.

I'm not really leaning any direction as a whole. I am born and raised in Southern California.

Born and raised in California, voted with my feet for 10 years by moving to Colorado. Had to return to California to care for an aged and ill mother-in-law. Play in right field, but stay in the ballpark, vote left on some social issues.

Out of curiosity, what was the point of this poll? I'm originally from Pennsylvania but I've lived in California for about 10 years. I'm leftist.

California is an interesting mix, it has both some of the most liberal areas in the country along with some of the most extreme conservative ones. I'm not really aware of any other state that has this sort of divide.

I would submit WA state. Western WA (Seattle, Bellevue, Olympia, etc) is very left, Eastern WA (Spokane, Walla Walla, Yakima) is pretty conservative.

Large population spread over a large area with diverse religion, ethnicity, and cultures. We are all over the place, except for some things because I can't for the life of me figure out why we constantly vote for the same people over and over and over again.

Extreme conservatives? Surely you're not speaking of the governor.

Yes California has a deep divide, but I find the CRP to be horridly moderate.
