Quick Play app, is it possible to put on a notebook.

I was looking at laptops and came across the Quick Play app for the HP DV1000 and thought it looked like a pretty cool option for watching a movie while travelling. My problem is that HP isn't my favorite company and I would rather not have the built in graphics of the DV1000. Anyway, I was wondering if there was anyway to setup a different laptop so that you to watch movies without loading up the OS. Anyway, thanks for the help.
