Quick Panaflo Question

I'm not sure if everyone's panaflos are like this, but I took advantage of the deal at bgmicro where 80mm panaflos were like 2.50 a piece. Anywho, i got them and all their connectors are only two pin females and I can't connect them to my mobo because they are 3 pin male.

Is there some adapter that i need to get?

thanks
b

just get a 3 pin that you ahve extra, plug it in, find out which pins on th emobo are ground and power and plug the red into power, black into ground, tada!

All my Panaflo's are have 2 pin tails, there is no 3rd wire so a 3 pin connector has no use. You have two basic options; 1 do what EternalVortex suggests and cut the tab to make it fit or 2 get new tails.

In my system I cut the tab (one not both) and used the existing 2 pin connector. You can tell what side of the connector you need to modify by using a fan that uses all 3 wires as a reference. The 3rd yellow wire is always the tach output that will be not be present on the Panaflo so that?s the side of the connector that needs modifying.

You can buy panaflow cables with 3-pin for the mobo or with the 4-pin harddrive connectors.

I got 3-pin panaflow cables for $0.99 each with low shipping. I forgot where but can look it up. Send PM if you need it.

A real 3-pin will allow you to monitor the rotation speed by software, compared to a 2-pin which just spins.

Unfortunately (most) Panaflos don't have a 3rd rpm pin -- They just have a 3rd pin that you can hk up to an alarm if the fan stops spinning.

If you do find a Panaflo that can meaure RPM (I think there is a rare model variation that does this), let me know. I'd love to buy one.

thank you all. i did cut off the little tabs it works fine.
thank you navid for that link
