Quick P45 memory timing question

I have an Asus p35 mobo. I currently have DDR2 800 memory in it running at 1:1 ratio on a 400 FSB. Will the P45 boards (any of them) support less than a 1:1 ratio so I can keep pushing my FSB past 400? My CPU isn't breaking a sweat and wondering how much more I can get out of it.

No.

1:1 is the lowest i've ever seen on an Intel chipset from 975X, P965, P35, & P45.
As that would be out of Intel spec, i don't think it's been done.

nForce chipests (which i would advise against) can do lower than 1:1 however.

Your RAM should be able to do speeds over DDR2-800 by overclocking.
You can always increase vDIMM & loosen timings to gain RAM headroom.

If the RAM really cannot go past DDR2-800, there are many kits out there that'll do way more than you'll ever need to max out your CPU/mobo's max FSB speed.

Yeah. Basically I was trying to see if I could just do a MOBO upgrade. I may end up getting one of the new P45s with USB3 and some DDR3 and then using my old stuff to build an HTPC.

Current specs?

Q9550 @ 3.4GHz, Asus P5K Pro, 4x 2GB DDR2 800 at 4-4-4-12, EVGA 9800GX2.

I don't really NEED an upgrade, but thought it would be fun to push the CPU. I have an old C2D 6300 as well that I could throw in an HTPC.

Well, nothing wrong with that system, & that RAM should do ~ DDR2-1000+ if you loosen up to 5-5-5 or 6-5-5, etc.

A P45-UD3R/P would help you toward 4 GHz nicely, assuming you have a good cooler.

I may start to play around with the RAM timings a bit. The annoying part about my motherboard is that it freezes about 75% of the time when I change BIOS setting then I have to revert and try it again. Was one of the reasons I wanted a new board. I may check out the microcenter here and see if they have anything on Clearance in a P45 then maybe get a ITX board for my 6300.
