Hi, does anyone know if the Fortron 450W PSU cables will be long enough to reach an Asrock 939dual-sata2 motherboard inside the Antec P180? Any help would greatly be appreciated

Thanks

MOST Psu's don't have long enough cables if you are looking to manage your cables. I have an OCZ 520W Modstream and ordered a 4pin and 20/24pin extension when I was about to transfer cases to the P180 which came to like $15 total. I needed both of them, I would just recommend getting extensions if you are looking for any type of cable management.

Go to Fortrons (FSP) site and look there for cable lengths of that particular model #. Probably in a pdf. g-luck

Could someone with a P180 actually grab some string, and measure how far the cables need to be? I know it might change some for others, but just for a reference, as this is coming up more and more lately...

I can do it...so many variables involved (whether you want to hide underneath mobo, where the 20/24 is located, upper or lower chamber HD install, etc...). Give me about 20 minutes and I will give you what info I can with my rig. :)

All measurements taken pertaining to my mobo layout. My board>http://www.driverheaven.net/reviews/asusA8V/a8vpics/av8%20008.jpg The 20/24 pin needs to be atleast 16" long to reach this location by way a crow flies. My 20 pin is 18" so I could hide some of behind the upper HD cage. The 4 pin needs to be atleast 20" for neat routing/24" to hide underneath mobo/18" by way a crow flies. As for molex's, pci-ex, floppy, and sata, all newer high performance psu's should accomodate these lengths. The floppy connector needs to be atleast 11". The bottem 5.25" bay is 13", next up is 15", next up is 17", and top 5.25" bay is 19". These are all by way a crow flies. Upper HD are 11", 12", & 13" respectably, again, by way a..you know lol. Bottem HD needs to be 12" (sata or 4pin molex) if you route up thru plastic slide and back down. I ran sata completely in bottem chamber via the tiny little holes at the base of the bottem mount fan structure. Had to shave a little plastic off the sata connector to do it, but it works well. You need 8" sata (or molex) if you do this. There are still other variables like hiding the 4pin molex's that run to the cd drives in which case you will need longer measurements than what I stated above. But like I said, all newer performance psu's should accomodate plenty long enough lengths on the 4pin molex's, pci-ex's, & sata's.
Hoped that helped some.

Awesome. I don't have a P180, but I'm going to put that together and post it on a web page when I get home... And I'll just refer to that every time someone has questions about it... Thank JBDan. I know that must have taken quite a bit of effort.

You know, I was thinking about that today. I've spent so much time modding, cutting, and installing stuff, that I haven't played any games or did anything really with my machine lately. hehehehehe. But that's okay. Just a few more things to do, get, and install, and I'll be done. Then I'll work on actually using my computer again.

Unfortunately, for the Asrock mobo, the 20 pin power connector is in the top-left...so
Where can I get extensions?

BTW - Thanks JBDan for measurements. I appreciate your and everybodys help

I can't link directly due to the fact that I can't access the site here at work, but Performance PCs has good stuff. I've been ordering a lot with them lately. You can get them already sleeved as well, which is nice.

Ok, sounds good. Thanks for the reply
However, do I only need the 20 pin extension?
How many 4 pins do I need, if any?

Sorry, I like to ask questions :)

Thanks for your time

I found a great place that has extensions because I also have a p180 coming and was doing some research just in case. Go to frozencpu.com. Mine is a 24pin but, they have the 12" 24pin for like $4.59 You can choose more expensive shipping, but they offer first class mail for like $2.50. They also have a 20 pin for $3.50 but its only 6" Anyways, found it to be way cheaper than that performance site everyone seems to recommend.

I have the fortron blue storm 500watt. It fits fine but it seems to be noisier than I thought it would. If it wasn't for the ps I wouldn't hear anything.
