Quick overclocking question

I am currently messing around with overclocking my P4 2.53GHz (b0 stepping), its currently running at 2.83ghz (149x19) and can get it to run stably at this speed. This is all without any voltage increasing. But now when I take it up to 150FSB, it will start to crash when I try running 3dmark 2001 and other benchmarking programs. It doesn?t crash all of windows, just the program. Now I?m an overclocking newbie and my question is what exactly does this mean? Have I hit this CPU?s max overclock? Do I need to increase voltages? Is it running to hot?

What exactly is stopping me going further when you run into this kind of problem?

Thanks.

EDIT: I also have one other quick question. When running Prime95 to test the stability at 149x19 i get an error at the 1 minute mark, something about a rounding error. Does this mean I have overclocked to high? Everyhing else on my system seems to run fine and 3dmark scores higher. What does this mean exactly? Because the error stops me proceeding with the rest of the test.

What are your current temps? Try increasing your voltage to see if the problem goes away. If your temps are low and extra voltage does not help you have likely reached your max. Processors rarely max out at their stock voltage.
