Quick one: looking for high quality DVD+R

I wonder how many times someone posted something like this??? 😉 Well search didn't turn up much :Q

Anyway, I've put bunch of old family movies on DVDr and need to make copies for my parents, grandparents, etc. I need something that's decently fast for my DVR-108, and a printable surface would be nice. They also need to be good quality and last a while (or will mostly all DVDr s last forever?)

Was looking at buying from that Meritline site, but there seems to be a lot of choices. I know alot of people like the Taiyo Yuden brand, but they are a bit expensive. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

TY or Ritek. Don't know if they make printable versions, but if normal TYs are expensive for you, then any printable will be.

Actually there are several cheap printables including Optodisc, and Prodisc...but I'm not sure of the quality of these.

The white printables are a bit more than the reg'lar thermal printable (shiny) which can likewise be labelled with a marker. I also recommend Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim DataLife Plus. Last I checked they cost aboot the same for 8x and will likely burn at 12x in most burners. I wouldn't pay much of a premium for 16x. You may want to check rima and froogle too, as mentioned in other thread.

Made in Japan labeled FujiFilm 8x DVD+R at BestBuy are Taiyo Yuden is your best bet. No need to guess what media you're getting and chance on quality. They are good for 16x burn on a good DVD burner, ie, NEC 3500A. Don't know if your Pioneer's firmware has TY02 code in it though. Might want to check club.cdfreaks.com and look at their Pioneer sub forum.

I've been using the Memorex dvd+r 8x discs for a few months, no coasters yet! 😉 FWIW I have the optorite dd1601 burner.
