Quick noob question regarding a Gigabit switch

I have a FIOS ActionTec router that is not Gigabit. If I buy a Gigabit switch and then plug in two PCs which each have a Gigabit NIC into the switch, will I get Gigabit speeds when transferring data from one PC to the other? Or would the data go from the one PC through the switch back to the slow router and then continue to the other PC?

PC to PC will stay on the gig switch.
