Hey, I am thinking of upgrading my motherboard and CPU soon (with fry's PSC) due to wearing out. I was thinking of either getting z77 or a X79 board, still not sure, depends on budget.

Since I would like to use my current RAM kit, would the 3930k IMC and a x79 board support triple channel? I know if I went to a z77 it would be back to dual channel, but I was wondering if x79 setups generally support triple as well as dual and quad channel.

My memory is 24GB corsair vengeance.

The Intel® Core™ i7-3930K and the X79 chipset support memory in a quad channel configuration. So you will get your best performance that way. Now you are able to put just 1, 2 or even just 3 sticks of memory on the board but you would run in single, dual or triple channel based on the number of sticks of memory you have on board. If you have 3 sticks of memory find a 4th of the same memory. http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/CS-011965.htm

I actually have 6 sticks, coming over from the x58 board. Anyways, sounds like it is supported, thanks
