Quick network question

Just managed to network my PC and laptop but the 10m crossover cable I had was not working so i bought a new one, now this one doesn't work, could it be the length that is stopping it from working?

i don't understand why it wouldn't work, 2 cables being bust is unlikely

anything else it might be?

Are the machines located in different places when you use the 3m cable versus the 10m one? You could have an EM source located along the length of the run. Otherwise, it very well could be that you have two bad 10m cables (or possibly that they're incorrectly labelled as crossover).

thanks, i borrowed a cable from a friend and that worked fine so it must have been those 2 bad 10m cables 🙁
