Need some quick help here. Work wants me to buy a new vacuum for the office. I can spend up to $400.00 but it doesn't need to cost that much if I can find it cheaper. It just needs to be very very good, powerful, and last a long time. I'm thinking one of the Dyson models maybe?

Any opinions? We have typical thin office style carpeting. I would like something that can do corners well. I have to submit a quote to finance peeps today.

TIA.

Dyson is the best vacuum ever. It's pure heaven and a pleasure to use. There is no other choice.

Lets be honest here!

No guy cares about vacuums here.

Fess up dude!

You're using it on your crotch. That's why you care! D:

Like spatiallyaware said, commercial bagged vacuum.

My parents have a 20 year old commercial bagged Hoover that still runs great. Powerful cleaning ability and long cord. Main downside is that it is heavy.

Oreck XL. /thread.

I have a Dyson and they ARENT "clog proof" or whatever...the canister fills up every 15 seconds, its made ENTIRELY out of plastic...and yes, it IS overpriced for what it is. Not thats a BAD vacuum, but its not a $400 vacuum.

Okay I just recently bought the Bissell Healthy Home vacuum. This is better than any dyson I have ever tried. Also it is on clearance at target right now. Normal target price is $199. So depending upon your target and its scheduled clearance rate it can be 30, 50. or 75 percent off. My target was 75 percent off for a price of $49 bucks plus tax.

The DCPI number is 072-07-0353 for the vacuum.

$50 on Bissell + 350 on booze = win!

I have the Dyson ball crap, easy? yes, powerful? well... my old $50 Bissell from walmart works just as well

I like our Dyson...IMO, it's the best vacuum we've ever owned...doing a better job than even the high-dollar Electrolux canisters we've owned in the past.

However, at the OP's price point, I think he's only gonna get a refurbished Dyson...so Dyson may not be his best choice.

Hoover Whisper, as far as I know the best knock off of Dyson. Much cheaper as well.

The Bissel Healthy Home (mentioned by HumblePie) is pretty good as well, from what I hear.

This.

Just buy 8 of them. 8 vacuums will last a really really long time.

This is the Bissell Healthy Home link to Amazon. Although it is cheaper at Target.

http://www.amazon.com/Bissell-Health...3278382&sr=8-1

There is a new one with the aluminum wand at Target as well that is black and red in color instead of green for $199.

Personally I would get the Bissell for $50 if you can find it for 75 percent off or for $99 if you can only find 50 percent off.

I bought a Dyson but mostly because I received a $100 gift card to Macy's, and Macy's had 25% bing cashback at the time. Also, tt was on sale at 299.99, which is the current price that Costco has.

After using it since January, I can say that it is pretty good, and the attachments work well. It picks up a lot of dust and dirt, even in low traffic areas that I thought were clean. I don't think I would have bought one outright though.

Can pickup a refurb dyson on ebay for half the cost (just make sure seller is legit), even the heavy duty ones that are a generation old. I bought one of the 'slims' for $220 and i like it, but I have a small place. The bigger ones have longer cords as well.

Dyson is overpriced and over rated.

There is a thread at Fatwallet that talks about Vacuums. Can;t remember what they rated the best, but dyson is not it.

Dyson to vacuums is Apple to computers. Its in the marketing.

I have had a Dyson. I thought it was ok.
I recently purchased a Hoover Platinum HOOVER UH30010COM and It is awesome. It is commercial grade and is about 150.00 I found it better than the Dyson.

Good Luck
