I need a program where i can specify when a user can login to his XP account, and have him log out, or auto shut down PC at a specific time, and have an admin password or something. I need to limit the use of someone on a machine to say 1 hour a day, can anyone point me to a proggie that can do this?

2000 domain control can do it without problem.

I'm not sure if XP stand alone can limit log in hours. You can certainly password protect the machine and the various user accounts.

Why do you want the machine to do this, exactly?

You could use a combination of scheduled tasks + SHDN (ShutDownNow) to can it.

Ok, i want to limit someone to only 1 hour of use per 24 hours. So, this person boots up XP, logs in and time starts (or have it set up to turn on and off at a specific time), now this person can do his work, and after 1 hour his account auto logs off, and he cant stop this and cant login back. Thats it, then it auto-reactives after 24hours

Do you have any idea how much of a bitch that would be to get cut off in the middle of a letter/page/game/etc?

Ok ... why is this person being limited to 1hr/24hr? Is this "person" a kid you're trying to keep from gaming too much?

You could easily do that if this machine was a client on a Win2k domain - you could even restrict logon time to certain times of the day or week.

I don't believe it's possible on a stand alone XP box. In a domain, yes, no problem. But not stand alone.

No it's not.

If it's the person in question's son, a simple "Time's up, Jimmy" should be all that's required.

make sure you BIOS password it too, cause if he catches on, he can go into BIOS say 5 minutes beofre shut down time, and change the clock back 55minutes.
