Quick memory question

I am running the Abit NF7-S 2.0 motherboard with a stick of Crucial 512mb DDR PC3200: CT6464Z40B DDR PC3200 ? CL=3 ? UNBUFFERED ? NON-ECC ? DDR400 ? 2.6V ? 64Meg x 64

I am planning on adding another 512mb stick. I was planning on getting another Crucial chip (unless you guys recommend something else). My question is, will my memory work with this Crucial 512mb DDR PC3200 chip: CT6472Y40B DDR PC3200 ? CL=3 ? REGISTERED ? ECC ? DDR400 ? 2.6V ? 64Meg x 72

Also, Crucial doesn't seem to say which of their chips are dual channel ddr.....how can I tell if the chip I have is dual channel (and will dual channel memory work with non-dual channel memory)?

There is no dual channel memory. Just DDR SDRAM. The mobo chipset does the dual channel part.

Why would you want to buy registered memory?

Any old PC3200 should work fine.

I read it the other way, he has regular, wants to buy registered.

Oh, then I would definitely not recommend mixing the ram then. Would be kind of pointless since both would have to be ECC for the motherboard to run them in ECC mode.

ya he has the top one that is non-ecc and unbuffered and wants the bottom one that is registered and ecc.

dont mix the two, ecc ram costs way more than regular ram and ts a complete waste. just get another stick of pc3200 ram

Thanks. The only reason I asked is because I found a good deal on registered and ecc ram. I will just get another regular old stick of pc3200 then.
